Skyview Classes and Team Programs:
Registration Information

Preschool & Kindergarten Gym Classes
A child's age for classes, during the 2010-2011 school year,
is determined by his or her age on August 31, 2010.

Busy Bees - Parent & Tot - Ages 2 - 3

Tumble Bugs - Three/Four Year Olds
Grasshoppers - Four/Five Year Olds
Butterflies - Five/Six Year Olds
Crickets - BOYS - Ages 4.5 - 6

Our classes for young children are full of action packed fun on the mats, beam, bars, rings, rope and trampoline. Children develop body and spatial awareness, co-ordination, strength, flexibility and balance through movement exploration. Older children begin to work on gymnastics progressions (which lead to higher level skills) and basic tumbling. Class groups are generally limited to 6 students per instructor. 45 minutes.

Dragonflies (girls) & Fireflies (boys)
Ages 4.5 - 6
, by Invitation

60 minute classes for younger children who are ready for a bit more challenge. Admission is by Invitation, based on the child's skill level and maturity.

Developmental Classes

Girls Gymnastics (Levels 1 - 4) - Age 6 & up
The basics of artistic gymnastics, trampoline and acrobatics are introduced. Our priorities are safety, good training habits, and a healthy respect for the human body - its limitations and its range of amazing possibilities. Students are grouped according to age and skill level with specific criteria for advancement.

Boys Gymnastics – Age 6 & up
Special attention is given to the skills and apparatus used in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics - parallel bars, pommel horse, rings, vault, horizontal bar, and floor exercise.
Classes are designed to develop general fitness - strength, power, flexibility, and coordination - and to introduce the competitive events.

Trampoline & Tumbling (T & T) - Age 5 and up
An excellent alternative for students who do not particularly enjoy the challenges of the artistic apparatus.  Perfect for aspiring cheerleaders!  The "Jumping Beans" class is for 5 to 7 year olds, and the regular class sequence (Tumble 1, 2, 3...) is for students who are at least 8 years old.

Flip! is designed for older children - age 8 & up - who are interested in training "air time" for diving and Xtreme sports.  Flip! includes the trampoline, TumblTrak, mini-tramp, rod floor, and conditioning for strength and flexibility.

Performing & Competitive Teams:

Skyview Team programs offer children the opportunity to pursue gymnastics to a more advanced level, to compete in USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic programs, and to perform on National and International stages. The challenges and rewards of making a serious commitment to the sport are absolutely incomparable.  Gymnastics is a difficult and beautiful sport, with lessons to teach about teamwork, responsibility, perseverance, and the power of a positive attitude.  Gymnasts are among the strongest and healthiest of all young athletes - physically and mentally.  It is our goal to give every athlete the opportunity to excel, and to do so in a positive, nurturing atmosphere.

Skyview Gymdancers  - Diane Floyd

The Gymdancers performance team is the heart and soul of Skyview.  The team is open to students Level 3 and above by invitation. They perform at schools, fairs and community events throughout the year, and also travel to Regional and National Gymnastics Festivals.  They have won numerous awards for outstanding choreography and performance.  Gymdancers teams have represented the US at three international festivals - World Gymnaestradas in 1999 (Göteburg, Sweden),  2003 (Lisbon, Portugal),  and 2007 (Dornbirn, Austria).  And in the summer of 2009, the Gymdancers traveled to Fort Worth, Texas to participated in the International Festival of Sport and Culture hosted by USA Gymnastics and the American Sokol Organization.  The next big Gymdancers adventure: The 14th World Gymnaestrada, Lausanne, Switzerland, July 2011.

Acrobatic Gymnastics - LeeAnn Lenhart, Jessica Guiel

Acrobatic Gymnastics is a sport which combines the power and athletic prowess of Tumbling and Artistic Gymnastics with the grace, artistry and presentation of dance. Athletes (men and women) compete in Pairs, Trios or Fours.

In its short history, Skyview Acrobatics has counted numerous State, Regional and National Champions among its team members.  Skyview brought home two Gold, two Silver, and a First Place Team award from the National Championships in St. Paul this past Summer.  Skyview Level 8I Pair, Alana Floyd and Helena Hall, also brought home a Silver medal from their first international competition at the Freedom Cup.

Women's Artistic Gymnastics
Girls - Age 7 and up - Mimi Husser, Kate Husser, Kat Evanoff

Artistic Gymnastics includes the events familiar to all from the Olympics - floor exercise, balance beam, uneven bars, and vault.  Athletes who meet the requirements for USAG Competition may participate in the Women's Junior Olympic Program at Skyview. Artistic gymnastics is a year-round training program with the competitive season running roughly November through May.

Men's Artistic Gymnastics
Boys - Age 7 and up - Rob Floyd

As in Women's Artistic Gymnastics, the Men's division includes competition in the traditional Olympic events.  For Men, they are: floor exercise, parallel bars, hi bar, pommell horse, rings and and vault.  We hope to have a few young men competiting for Skyview in the USAG Junior Olympic Program fthis year.

Trampoline & Tumbling - Paul Goodwin

T & T athletes compete on trampoline, synchronized trampoline (two at once!), double mini trampoline, and power tumbling.  T & T is a great alternative for young athletes who love to MOVE but don't particularly enjoy the challenges of the Artistic equipment.  The Skyview T & T Team is growing by leaps an bounds.
